Meet Our Team
Our team combines years of renewable energy development experience and a deep understanding of the new technologies available for onsite energy generation. We undertake a rigorous economic and technical evaluation in order to find ways developers can add additional value to projects. Contact us today to get started.
James McGinniss is an expert in modern grid design and technologies, ranging from solar + storage to CHP/Cogen. While studying Engineering at the University of Texas-Austin, he researched all aspects of energy markets and next generation grid infrastructure design. In lieu of pursuing his PhD in battery storage science, he helped found David Energy.
While at UT, James also founded and led a team of 30+ engineers that competed in the Elon Musk led SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, where teams were invited to build pods to race on a one-mile test track. They won the SpaceX Innovation Award after two years spent building their prototype, one of three teams to be recognized.
James has extensive experience designing and deploying rooftop solar and residential behind the meter storage projects in the Texas market for Alba Energy, a Texas based solar installation company.
He holds an M.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from UT Austin and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University with a B.S. in Physics and Math.
Brian Maxwell has 9 years of experience in the energy development and has a deep understanding of all aspects of energy use and design. Prior to David Energy, Brian co-founded NowSolar Inc and EastEdge Energy G.K. where he built large scale solar and wind developments around the world.
At EastEdge Energy Brian originated 200MW of solar projects around Japan and formed a joint venture agreement with Invenergy LLC for co-development of the portfolio. 80MW of the portfolio are currently under construction and the remainder of the portfolio is being co-developed with Softbank Energy.
Brian has also worked worked at the Cato Institute, a prominent Washington D.C. think tank, as an energy and environmental policy researcher. He holds a B.S.c (Honors) in Geology and Economics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
